Spanking as child corrective action There is a news report which has just been published, which says "spanking detrimental to children". The study shows that if you spank your child at age 1, it will have more discipline problems in the future, and be more aggressive. I'd have to say that if you think spanking your children at 1 year old is doing them any good, you are kidding yourself. I was at least 6 years old when I was first spanked. Before that, it was time outs. Only when I was 11 years old did I escape the corrections. After that period, grounding is much more effective.  ¶ 1:46 PM
